Our 2017 Christmas Offering

Our 2017 Christmas Offering will be shared

LOCALLY with Lansing Shelter Ministries,
REGIONALLY with The Methodist Children’s Home Society (MCHS),
and GLOBALLY with Curamericas Global.

Locally, shelters like Advent House and Loaves & Fishes work daily with the economically disenfranchised, assisting with issues that get in the way of self-sufficiency. The Methodist Children’s Home Society located in Redford, MI, responds to the needs of abused and neglected children by providing an array of housing, educational, clinical and therapeutic services. Curamericas Global partners with communities that have some of the highest child and maternal mortality rates in the world and in areas where preventable diseases like malnutrition, pneumonia, and complications from childbirth can quickly lead to death).

You are able to contribute any time in the month of December, including Christmas Eve. Place your contribution in the offering plate on Sunday, on Christmas Eve, drop off to  the office, or send to: Okemo Community Church, P.O. Box 680, Okemos, MI, 48805. Please note "Christmas Offering" on your check memo or on your giving envelope.

Mission Ministries

Okemos Community Church has a passion for mission!

We put our faith into action through fundraising, hands-on service days and mission work trips. OCC supports and serves the vulnerable in our local community and beyond.

OCC Food Pantry

The OCC Food Pantry has served our Okemos neighbors for over 25 years.

With the support of our congregation and community, we are able to support an average of
35 families people per month.

Support comes in many forms including monetary donations and non-perishable food donations from our congregation, local businesses and organizations. In addition, the OCC Pantry benefits two times a year from
Meijer Simply Give campaigns.

Our pantry is affiliated with the Greater Lansing Food Bank and is supported by volunteers and staff,

Monday-Thursday, 9 am-12 pm (noon). If you are in need, please call 349-4220 to set up an appointment.

Local Missions

In addition to our pantry, OCC helps feed neighbors by participating in the Meridian Township Holiday Baskets program and the "Bridge Card to Token" program at the Meridian Farmer's Market. Through Operation Santa, we provide Christmas gifts for children and families at Lyons Elementary in Lansing. In the spring, we partner with Rebuilding Together-Tri County and spend a Saturday working on home improvements for an area resident. These are just a few of the local missions we support.

The OCC Women organize and lead two major mission fundraising events at OCC. All money raised at the Spring and Fall Rummage and Attic Treasure sales goes to local, regional and global missions that support women and children. Be sure to look for donation dates and sale dates on our church calendar by clicking information.
